Athletic Therapy

A Certified Athletic Therapist assesses musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, utilizes contemporary rehabilitative techniques, physical reconditioning, and supportive strapping procedures to promote an environment conducive to optimal healing in preparing the individual for safe reintegration into an active lifestyle.

Massage Therapy

The practice of a Registered Massage Therapist is in the assessment and treatment of the soft tissues and joints of the body as well as in the prevention of physical dysfunction. In addition to relieving pain, manipulation of the soft tissues assists in maintaining, developing, and augmenting physical function.

Orthotics

Using state of the art computerized technology, we specialize in the assessment and proper fitting of custom foot orthotics to be worn in your shoes. These devices provide correction and assistance to your feet, helping them to function in a more efficient manner.

Medical Acupuncture

A licensed acupuncturist encourages improved daily function through the insertion of needles to precise acupuncture points. The improved energy and biochemical balance produced by acupuncture results in stimulating the body's natural healing abilities, and in promoting physical and emotional well-being.

Acupressure

Acupressure is a form of acupuncture in which the fingers and thumbs rather than needles are used to press or massage acupuncture points. By relieving muscular tension, more blood, oxygen, and nutrients are carried to tissues throughout the body. This helps promote physical calmness and mental alertness, and aids in healing by removing waste products. Like acupuncture, acupressure triggers the release of endorphins, the neurochemicals that relieve pain.

Active Release Technique

Active Release Technique (ART) provides a simple solution to breaking up adhesions and scar tissue by taking the muscle from a shortened to a lengthened position. When scar tissue builds, muscles become shorter and weaker causing decreased range of motion, reduced strength, and pain.

Laser

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) causes the production of natural pain killing endorphins and suppresses inflammatory enzymes. LLLT also accelerates lymphatic drainage and allows for an increase in circulation, thereby hastening the recovery process. Lasers increase the energy of cells. Certain wavelengths of light aid in the production of ATP (energy) in cells, which in turn supports cellular health. Healthy cells encourage adjacent cells to divide, stimulating regeneration and rapid healing.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is primarily used as a form of deep heat. The crystalline ultrasound probe generates high frequency sound waves that are absorbed by the underlying tissue. This makes the affected musculature more pliable, and in doing so, facilitates stretching of the tight connective tissues.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a method whereby moxa (mugwort) or other herbs are burned above the skin at specific acupuncture points. The resulting heat penetrates and warms the body to open up the free flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood. This technique is often combined with acupuncture as both modalities used together have a synergistic effect. Moxa is indicated for conditions such as diarrhea, arthritis, rheumatic pain, abdominal pain, and certain gynecological disorders.

Cupping

Cupping Therapy is a treatment in which the practitioner creates a suction using a glass or plastic cup. This causes the superficial blood vessels to dilate, and the skin rises as blood rushes to the skin's surface. Cupping helps to regulate the flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood, restore circulation, and assists in removing toxins through the skin.

Biofeedback

A biofeedback device records subtle, "reactive", informational "stress potentials" provided by the client during the assessment procedure. The computer evaluates such responses, and then challenges the individual with that information by feeding it back to the client. This process simply assists the body's own natural defense mechanisms by encouraging energetic balance and harmony.

Herbology

Herbs are a variety of naturally found products that have medicinal properties. Herbs move the vital energy to rebalance the body toward health just as acupuncture needles do, and supply nutrients to areas that need nourishment. Formulas come in many forms including herbal teas cooked from raw herbs, prepared pills, powders, or tinctures.

Aromatherapy

Emotions influence every aspect of our lives and have a profound effect on our health, happiness and success. Research shows that stress and other negative emotions compromise immune function. Traumatic experiences, stored at the cellular level, can prevent us from moving forward with our lives. Essential oil blends have been formulated to help release accumulated negative emotions, empowering you with hope, courage and joy.

Kinesiology

Kinesiology is the science of human movement, analyzing the forces applied to and generated by the body as it functions in work, leisure and other daily activities. A kinesiologist applies evidence-based medicine to enhance and preserve health-related quality of life.

Ergonomics comes from the Greek words for "laws" of "work". It is a systematic analysis of fitting work to the person to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury, improve job performance and optimize psychosocial health.
