WHO is a Certified Athletic Therapist?

A Certified Athletic Therapist is a health care professional who provides effective solutions to recover from physical injury and promotes healthy active living.

What care is provided by a Certified Athletic Therapist?

In addition to using a variety of treatment modalities, the Certified Athletic Therapist provides individualized recovery and rehabilitation programs. A key component is patient education about exercise, reconditioning, awareness of injury prevention and how to avoid reoccurrence.

Who can benefit from athletic and massage therapy?

Both forms of treatment are beneficial to people of all ages suffering from conditions such as stress due to occupation, neck and back pain, postural dysfunction, headaches, repetitive overuse injury, soft tissue injury, as well as sports related injuries.

What is the benefit to your Policy Holders?

By specifying the services of a Certified Athletic Therapist in a group policy, your clients can take advantage of the specialized rehabilitative therapy that can help them recover quickly and completely from their injuries. Our type of service is unique and will provide policyholders with a choice as to which professional is best able to rehabilitate their injury in the shortest possible time.

Are the services covered by insurance?

Most extended health plans cover orthotic care, as well as treatments performed by a certified athletic therapist or a registered massage therapist.

What are prescription orthotics?

Prescription orthotics are medical appliances that are custom made to correct your specific foot imbalance by realigning and stabilizing the bones of your feet, in turn restoring your natural walking pattern.

How do orthotics work?

Orthotics work on the feet in the same way braces work on the teeth - by exerting gentle consistent pressure to bring the foot muscles and bones back into proper alignment.

How do orthotics help?

Your feet are the foundation of your entire body. They do an incredible amount of work each day. The smallest imbalance can cause a great deal of discomfort, but properly fitted prescription orthotics help restore the normal balance and alignment of your body and bring relief from fatigue and pain.

What is GaitScan?

GaitScan is a computerized pressure plate that is attached to a computer. This technology assists your health care practitioner in analyzing your walking or running pattern and detecting unusual foot function that may be affecting the rest of your body.

How does acupuncture work?

Needling acupuncture points stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These chemicals will either alter the perception of pain, or they will trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which will influence the body's own internal regulating system.

What conditions are treated by medical acupuncture?

Generally, medical acupuncture is effective to:
  • Control and relieve pain and inflammation
  • Treat a variety of medical conditions other than pain
  • Promote general health and well-being
  • Prevent illness

Are there any side effects to acupuncture treatment?

Some people feel energized after treatments, whereas others feel relaxed. Some patients feel somewhat disoriented afterwards, which generally passes after a brief rest. Because the body's chemistry balance is affected, some people may see changes in appetite, sleep, bowel or urination patterns, or emotional state. These are normal reactions, are usually short-term, and are an indication that the treatments are having the desired effect. They are not cause for concern.

What is the L.I.F.E. system?

The L.I.F.E. system identifies stresses on the body at the electromagnetic level using nanosecond computer speeds. This system follows the perspective that a river of energy connects every organ, every thought, and every emotion. The flow or blockage of energy reflects a profound system of communication that demonstrates the body-mind intelligence. This is where the L.I.F.E. system seeks to create and integrate an environment of wellness, balance, and harmony.
